After getting onto Campus Drive from Route 1, make your first right onto Paint Branch Drive. The AV Williams building will be the second building on your right. The best place to park is the visitor’s parking lot across the street, adjacent to Lot G. Otherwise, you can park at any metered space. The AV Williams building is a U-shaped, three- and four-story building. There is a one-story building (engineering annex building) in the middle of the U. See campus map for more information.

Dr Jandelyn (Jan) Plane, the Director of the Center for Women in Computing (University of Maryland, College Park) , helped by some of her Computing Ambassadors, will be talking about safety and privacy issues on line, taking time to help you make your accounts more secure and possibly talking about collaboration tools on-line.

This is also a ‘Share the Future’ event and the first (in recent memory) in what we hope to be a great collaboration with the Campus Club.

Today’s Internet activities can expose us to financial and social harm yet few can avoid web-based mail, banking, and utility transactions. And then there is the world of Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Some now consider the concept of privacy obsolete.

Dr. Plane is Director of the new Maryland Center for Women in Computing at UMCP, Associate-Director ACES (the first undergraduate cybersecurity program). For 15 years, she worked on university science capacity building projects in sub- Africa and Afghanistan. Jan holds graduate degrees in both computer science and education.

On Sunday, you will find free parking in Lot Q immediately west of the Computer Science
Building.

Bring your laptops, notebooks and for best results. For those who have none of these items, a number will be available for loan on the day of the presentation.
